Independence Day

The base hosted a great Fourth of July festival, and Ricky sampled a number of the indoor activities:
Basketball...

Japanese drumming...

Block building...

Bowling... and yummy BBQ too!

Outside, he sat in an assortment of vehicles, including a hum-vee (not picture), police car (above), and fire truck.

Security Forces were particularly pleased that Ricky's primary interest in the police car was buckling his seatbelt (btw - that's the passenger side).

And then there was the firetruck...

Ricky created quite a diversion with his attempts to wield the very heavy hammer and ring the fire bell. He's amazingly strong for his 29 lbs. His determination to "do it self" can have a negative impact on teachability, but we love that he wanted to try.

(Not pictured) We ended our day sitting under the beautiful fireworks at the base beach. Ricky made it about two-thirds of the way through the "big booms" before he stated "I am soooo scared" and asked for it to be "all done."
